Tea Clipper

from Lyrics by Thursday's Child

lyrics

Tea Clipper (68)
Ken Punshon & Chris Pyam (2010)

[Cast off for'ard cast off aft
Weigh the anchor chain
Race the tide to open sea
Unfurl the sails to catch the wind
Cast off for'ard cast off aft
We're bound for distant shores]

Clear Lizard Point and then our craft's
Tacking 'cross the main
Make good speed in fair Biscee
A record run the mate opined
(Clear) Lizard Point and then our craft's
Bound for distant shores

[]

In high spirits we sang and laughed
Past the coast of Spain
A storm approached near Cape Verdi
The gale increased the sail we trimmed
In high spirits we sang and laughed
Bound for distant shores

[]

Storm so fierce it drove us past
And set the crew a prayin'
All thoughts now gone of China tea
Just wondering when we'd have to swim
Storm so fierce it drove us past
Bound for distant shores

[]

Now sitting here upon a raft
Thirst is driving minds insane
Pondering now just what will be
Wondering what is Nature's whim
Now sitting here upon a raft
Bound for distant shores

[]

Thursday's Child UK

Thursday's Child was born on a Monday (August Bank Holiday 2009)!

Chris Pyam and Ken Punshon got together to try out a couple of ideas for songs. That afternoon they created about eight songs; since then over 100 more have emerged, with a few more 'bubbling away'.

Heather Dunn joined us in Nov 13 to contribute additional harmonies during the creation of our third album (Carry My Thoughts).
