Glencoe

Glencoe
Ken Punshon & Chris Pyam 2011

From the Bridge of Orchy there runs a drovers' road
It skirts the side of Rannoch Moor, round to bleak Glencoe

The Devil's Staircase climbing up from the gathering gloom
No breath of air disturbs the scene, weight of impending doom

Through the pass of grim grandeur, a sense of what would be
A dark foreboding skyline formed by the sisters three

Past the loch and onward, reach the fateful spot
Where legend says the fire was lit, upon the signal rock

That snow-cold morn in 92 along this very glen
A massacre was ordered by the devil's men

The government had decreed it, all dead they did proclaim
Murder under trust committed, the Campbells were defamed

Some no doubt complicit, but many did refuse
To commit the murder foul, their hosts to abuse

Tradition tells the story of the massacre that took place
There's solemn savage beauty still around this eerie place

about

Thursday's Child UK

Thursday's Child was born on a Monday (August Bank Holiday 2009)!

Chris Pyam and Ken Punshon got together to try out a couple of ideas for songs. That afternoon they created about eight songs; since then over 100 more have emerged, with a few more 'bubbling away'.

Heather Dunn joined us in Nov 13 to contribute additional harmonies during the creation of our third album (Carry My Thoughts).
