about
Whilst writing these lyrics I stumbled across the Guiness Book of Records largest jigsaw:
"LIFE: The Great Challenge" 25,000 pieces, approximately 14'x5'2"
lyrics
Jigsaw Puzzle (27)
Ken Punshon & Chris Pyam (2010)
[Gazing at the picture, just trying to find a way
To figure out the puzzle, one piece every day
Cannot count the pieces, some puzzles are quite small
But size doesn't matter, if the puzzle does en-thrall]
Starting with a corner, an edge to give aline
Looking at the box lid, to save a bit of time
Slowly moving inwards, following a road
Dodging round the obstacles where progress can be slowed
[]
First I do the simple bits, the colours are quite clear
Then try those I cannot solve, no matter how I peer
I keep on looking back now, across those early bits
Looking for some clue on how, the rest of it all fits
[]
Often there are funny bits that don't make sense
Some can make you nervous, or feeling quite in-tense
Pieces double sided, your progress may retard
Be sure to handle them with care, always be on guard
[]
Struggling with the blue bits, put them on one side
If you can't avoid them then take them in your stride
Sometimes there are hard bits, where nothing seems to fit
But surely I'll get through them, if I show some grit
[]
Looking at the sky for clues, to cope with tessellations
Trying to find a way to handle all of the frustrations
Over in the corner I see a guiding star
But how much should I trust it, do I want to go that far
[]
When at last it's finished, I see it at the end
The picture just about makes sense, or so I can pretend
Though contrasting colours maybe cause some pain
I'm sure that given half a chance I'd do it all again
[]
Size doesn't matter, if the puzzle does en thrall
