The paths through the forest where we used to roam

The track to the cottage that we called our home
Now blocked by the mouldering trees

Outside in the garden the flowers have gone
Replaced by malignant weeds

Steeped in the old memories


The windows are broken, the thatch is all torn
The walls are crumbling lime
Even the bed where our children were born
Is covered in tangled green vines

The old wooden gate is held by one hinge
